Innovation and Entrepreneurship Events

It has been a while since our last post, but let’s try to catch up with some nice past and upcoming events that I am involved with. Those are not exactly typical startups events, but they show how this culture is finally gaining a higher importance in some institutional environments in Brazil.

O sucesso das empresas filhas da Unicamp  (Unicamp/Unitec - Limeira/SP – May 25)

The success of the companies created by Unicamp’s alumni and technologies was the theme of this first edition of the conference that took place on May 25. Organized by the recently launched Empresa Jr. (the “company” managed by the undergrad students to learn how to deal with real projects).

I was invited to talk about angel investing, how to get it and the work of Anjos do Brasil, although the final questions were more about the experience of being an (female) entrepreneur and start early in Brazil. I am looking forward to hear great news about this group in the near future.

Workshop Inovação na Prática – NIT Mantiqueira (São José dos Campos/SP – June 5)

Organized by NIT Mantiqueira, an arm of the Brazilian Science and Technology Ministry, this workshop intends to bring to the market the innovation behind the academic R&D. It will be a great opportunity to talk about technology transfer and partnerships.

BNDES, Finep and Fapesp will talk about the opportunities of financing innovation supported by the government. Along with ABVCAP I will be talking about the private investments, angel investing and the work of Anjos do Brasil.

Inova Campinas (Campinas/SP – June 11-12)

The conference is designed to integrate the R&D institutions, the private and public sectors to foment the innovation and development of the Campinas Metropolitan Area.

The program will gather together authorities like the Minister of Science and Technology and the São Paulo State’s Government, representatives from smart cities all over the world, such as Barcelona, and the local authorities, entrepreneurs and researchers to create a forum to discuss how to foster innovation and development in this region.

The startups and high tech entrepreneurs will be on the spotlights on June 12. I will moderate a panel about the innovation and entrepreneurship environment for high tech companies.

Besides the conference, the event will have an exhibition area with representatives of all cities, R&D institutions, universities, established companies, startups and spin offs.

It is a great opportunity for everybody involved with the Campinas ecosystem or those that intend to be involved with. You can still apply here
