Unicamp Challenge 2012 & University of Cambridge to offer an Entrepreneurship Workshop

Last year we have extensively covered the first edition of Unicamp Challenge at Innoveur. After all the great results, the university's Innovation Agency (Inova Unicamp) launched the second edition a couple of weeks ago. In 2012, the business model competition targets undergrad and grad students from all over the country. The deadline to apply is March 30.

Entrepreneurship Workshop by University of Cambridge (April 4)

Shailendra Vyakarnam, Diretor of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning of University of Cambridge, will talk about entrepreneurship, business development and will support the teams to develop their business models, giving feedback for their elevator pitches.

The visit will also include two other lectures in the University for the local researchers (April 2, 2pm at Incamp Auditorium) and entrepreneurship students (April 3, 7pm) and is fostered by the partnership agreement between both universities via the Prosperity Fund project.

Desafio Unicamp / Unicamp Challenge 2012

Unicamp Challenge is a business model competition targeting undergraduate and graduate students from all over the country. Each team might choose one of the technologies produced (and patented) by the university’s researchers and pre-selected by Unicamp’s Innovation Agency.

Another workshop about business model generation and lean startup will kick off the program on April 14. Experienced mentors will support the teams along the 3 months they will have to develop viable and innovative business models for those technologies. The finalists will be judged in the award ceremony on July 7.

Unicamp (State University of Campinas)

Unicamp is a research-intensive university located in the state of São Paulo. It is widely recognized as one of the top-ranked Latin American institutions of higher education.

It contributes with 17% of the country’s scientific output and produces 10% of Brazil’s PhDs. Through its technology transfer and innovation agency, Inova Unicamp, it has become the country’s leading university in the production of Intellectual Property.

Cambridge Enterprise is working with Inova to share best practice in technology transfer, in a collaboration funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

You can find an overview of the entrepreneurial and innovative ecosystem around the university in this Innoveur’s post.
